Happy national strawberry ice cream day from enchanting creations!

Karen Matamoros by

Here at Enchanting Creations we don’t need much of an excuse to celebrate (nor to indulge in a scoop of ice cream), but today we honor that sometimes forgotten Neapolitan triplet, the strawberry.

On this hallowed day, you might feel your inner Martha Stewart begin to stir* and decide to pull out all the stops. Homemade ice cream is indeed delicious, but for those of you who might not have a fancy ice cream maker on hand (or four hours to spare) we recommend stopping in for a shake* – or a scoop. It doesn’t matter how you celebrate so long as you do, because let’s be honest: a world without strawberry ice cream is just a little too black and white.

A Block Party for Zoe, and a Heartfelt Thanks You

Karen Matamoros by

On May 16, 2015, our community came together in a big way for Zoe Kolloras, a local 10-year-old girl who lost her mother, Rebecca, unexpectedly last month. At Enchanting Creations, we were fortunate enough to participate in this effort to support Zoe in the wake of this tragedy.

Hate Cakes, Human Rights, and Where We Stand

This post was updated on April 20, 2015, due to the overwhelming response it has received.

Originally this blog post had been intended to serve as a quasi-FAQ page, a once-and-for-all statement on the matter to which we could refer anyone who inquired about what we have now lovingly dubbed the Hate Cake. The objective was to help keep the phone lines open for our actual customers. We wanted to make very clear that we had every intention of respecting the law while still respecting our beliefs.

Don't be that guy: Three types of valentine even cupid would disapprove.

When it comes to romance, let’s face it: not everyone has the wherewithal – not to mention the musical accompaniment – to be this guy. That said, most of us do aspire to put our best foot forward, and sometimes making that happen is all about knowing what not to do. Below are three painfully stereotypical Valentines no one wants to be.

Cupcakes and Carnivals

At Enchanting Creations we love Miami Shores and welcome any chance we’re given to celebrate our truly unique community. In just three days one of our oldest and most charming neighborhood traditions, the annual Saint Rose of Lima Carnival, will be here and, boy, are we psyched! Affectionately referred to as simply “The Carnival” by most long-time Shores residents, this weekend means different things to different people. For some it’s about catching up with old friends, for others it’s merely an opportunity to deplete the battery lives of otherwise inexhaustible children. However you slice it, in the end it honestly is fun for the whole family; and whether you’re a ride junkie, a Filipino food enthusiast, or a beer tent groupie, the Saint Rose of Lima Carnival offers something for everyone.
